Figure 1: Eyal Grobak's PiBoy running Batocera
Recently user Eyal Grobak has posted a proof of concept of Batocera running on the PiBoy DMG.
Batocera is an open-source linux distribution for retro gaming, and in this case is used as an alternative to RetroPie, which the PiBoy ships with.
Info on the install, as well as links to the images, can be found on Eyal's original reddit post, which also has video of Batocera running on the PiBoy.
The PiBoy is the perfect platform not just for external modifications, but for software as well.
